The perfect wintertime Amsterdam canal cruise combi

Some might think taking two boat tours through the canals of Amsterdam on the same day might be a bit much, but we know better! The experience during the day is so vastly different from the one at night, especially during the Amsterdam Light Festival, that there is no chance of it feeling like a repeat. The two experiences combined will give you a great feeling for the city.

The iconic Amsterdam canal cruise

As you sail through the waterways of Amsterdam during the day, you’ll see the UNESCO World Heritage listed canals from their best angle. Along the way you’ll see grand merchant houses, gothic churches, museums, and medieval buildings. During the day, every canal cruise is different as the captain changes the route through the city to avoid congestion.

On board our boat, you have access to free Wi-Fi and an audio guide in 19 languages. The GPS-triggered audio guide will tell you about sights along the route, such as the Anne Frank House, the Mayor’s House, the bridges and more. The boat has individual seats and a glass roof to offer you the best experience and views.

Amsterdam Light Festival canal cruise

The views at night are quite different than they are during the day. Instead of focusing on the buildings and canals themselves, you’ll make your way along a set route to discover the light-art from the Amsterdam Light Festival. We have been an official partner of the Festival since the beginning and continue to offer canal cruises along the route.

Every year, the Amsterdam Light Festival brings new and inspiring light art to the city. This year, the light artworks represent the theme Rituals. With this theme, the festival celebrates the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam and shows how light plays a crucial role in rituals, such as celebrating the new year with fireworks and a birthday with candles on a cake.
